What’s new
Flashpoint has introduced natural language capabilities to image search, allowing users to find visual intelligence using simple, conversational queries.
Instead of writing complex Boolean strings, you can now enter intuitive descriptions like:
- “Fake passports in Telegram chats.”
- “Stacks of stolen credit cards next to cash.”
- “Counterfeit sneakers being sold on forums.”
Flashpoint’s engine analyzes visual characteristics, metadata, and context to surface results that match your description—even if specific keywords aren’t present.
You can toggle seamlessly between Boolean and natural language search anytime, giving you the flexibility to choose the right approach for your workflow. This enhancement builds on the existing Images tab in Ignite, improving the experience without changing where or how users work..
Why it matters
Finding the right image shouldn’t require mastering search syntax. This enhancement makes visual intelligence more accessible and intuitive for all users, whether experienced analysts or those just beginning an investigation.
Key benefits include:
- Removes friction from image discovery with simple, natural queries
- Speeds up time-to-insight for analysts and investigators
- Supports exploratory workflows for early-stage research or unknown threats
- Offers flexibility, allowing users to switch between Boolean and natural language search at any time
- Improves accessibility for non-technical users or cross-functional teams
Now, teams can search how they think—and find the images they need faster.
How it works
Natural language search is now integrated directly within the Images tab in Flashpoint Ignite.
- Use keyboard shortcuts or the on-screen toggle to switch between Boolean and Natural Language modes
- Start typing a description—no syntax required
- Flashpoint analyzes image content, metadata, and surrounding context to return the most relevant results
- Combine this with other filters (e.g., source, timeframe) to refine your results even further
- Use bulk actions, deduplication tools, or pivot into deeper analysis as needed
Natural language search is available across Flashpoint’s expanding image datasets and will continue evolving in scale and precision.
This is part of Flashpoint’s broader effort to introduce purposeful, user-centric applications of AI across the platform, enhancing discovery, reducing friction, and helping teams act faster. Expect to see more AI-powered enhancements throughout 2025.
